III International Symposium
«Bone-muscular diseases and age»
(March 12-14, 2018, Lviv, Ukraine)
Holding international symposia ‘Bone-muscular diseases and age’ in Lviv is a good tradition already as every one of them becomes a well anticipated spectacular event for the medical community. Their organization is a result of cooperation by the Ukrainian Association of Osteoporosis, Austrian Society for Bone and Mineral Research and Slovak Society for Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases (SOMOK) and the support by the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO).
This year the symposium is commemorating the 60th anniversary of ‘D.F. Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology’ by the NAMS Ukraine – the state scientific-practical institution which may be called the leading center for the osteoporosis and osteoporotic complication studies, as well as for Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency studies. D.F. Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology-affiliated Ukrainian Scientific Center of Osteoporosis Problems and the Ukrainian EVIDAS Chapter (created in 2014 to research Vitamin D) are both successfully functioning under the leadership of Prof. Vladyslav Volodymyrovych Povoroznyuk, President of the Ukrainian Association of Osteoporosis.
The III International Symposium ‘Bone-muscular diseases and age’ was held at the Lviv House of Scholars. To the same extent as Lviv provides a harmonious unity of tradition, architecture, history of the Eastern and Western Europe, on March 12-14, 2018, the Lviv House of Scholars symbolized the present, past and future coming together: the noble piece of 19th century architecture with an immaculate interior decoration and big airy spaces admitted the modern scientific-medical event organized along the 21st-century lines, with an innovated technical support and high-quality simultaneous interpreting of sessions and reports.
The leading scientists from Europe and Asia were speaking at the symposium. During the three days of the international symposium, 6 scientific sessions, 3 round tables and 3 master-classes were held incorporating 40 lectures and reports by the Ukrainian and international scientists.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Vladyslav Volodymyrovych Povoroznyuk read out a greeting sent by Jean-Yves Reginster Reginster, President of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO):
Dear Colleagues!
As the President of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO), I am very pleased to congratulate Professor Vladyslav Povoroznyuk on organizing the 3rd International Symposium ‘Bone-muscular diseases and age’.
The current symposium is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of D.F. Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology NAMS Ukraine. This Institute for more than half a century implemented a better understanding of the ways we can improve the life quality of our senior patients. The health and ageing of the bone-muscular system is viewed today as a principal factor of the elderly quality of life, which I have no doubt the D.F. Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology NAMS Ukraine is successfully achieving.
The symposium program gathering the most well-renowned researchers into bone and joint diseases who represent Ukraine and the Central European countries paving the way to a better care of elderly patients with bone, muscular and joint diseases.
There is no doubt that during the symposium our colleagues from Ukraine and other countries get a clear understanding of what could be achieved to help us leave the locomotor apparatus diseases in the past.
