On Feb 23-24, 2018, in Kyiv, at the State Institution ‘D.F. Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology’ by the NAMS Ukraine, XI International Conference of Young Scholars ‘Bone Muscular Diseases and Age’ was held commemorating Prof. E.P. Podrushnyak.

Academician of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and Scientific Progress

 

Short biographical notice. In the years from 1961 to 1992 Eugene Pavlovych Podrushnyak was the Scientific Director of the Clinical Department of Age-Related Changes and Locomotor Apparatus Diseases at the Institute of Gerontology by the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, from 1997 – the Vice-President of the Ukrainian Association of Osteoporosis, from 1999 – the Director of the Ukraininan Scientific-Medical Center of Osteoarthrology Problems. During his life, Eugene Pavlovych was awarded multiple times, namely by the I degree ‘Great Patriotic War’ order in 1985, by the ‘Courage’ order and ‘Bravery’ order in 1994, by the ‘Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45’ medal – in 1945. He was not only a talented scientist but an experienced practitioner, well-respected by the patients. Eugene Pavlovych Podrushnyak’s colleagues appreciated his high professionalism and were grateful for the shared experience.

The conference was opened by the Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor V.V. Povoroznyuk greeted the participants and told them about the life and activities of Prof. E.P. Podrushnyak focusing on the outstanding dates and events of his scholarly life. Academician V.V. Byezrukov emphasized the importance of such conferences for the youth and recounted the memorable achievements of Eugene Pavlovych’s before the national science and medicine.

The 1st place was shared by two participants: A.S. Musiyenko for the study “Age-related features of the mineral density and bone quality in male patients” and A.F. Travynsky for the study “Endosteal stimulation of femoral head aseptic necrosis remodeling”.

The 2nd place was occupied by V.S. Shapovalov “Bone defect replacement with a bioactive glass under the experimental and clinical conditions”.

The 3rd place was shared by K.P. Lazaryeva for “Correlation of pulse wave and 25 (ОH) Vitamin D3 in elderly female patients with uncomplicated arterial hypertension” and E.A. Levytsky for “Lateral inclination angle under the unstable patella”.
